EDMORE SANGO Born in 1977 in the Chitaunike Village in Guruve, (northeast Zimbabwe) Edmore is the youngest brother of renowned master Brighton Sango.
One sees two heads close together in one stone, or perhaps they are two mushrooms sprouting from one shoot.Only its sculptor knows the work?s true intention. According to Edmore Sango, sculpture is ?something that goes on in his head, never ending, even when asleep.?This is a shared view with many young sculptors today - the reason why they have chosen sculpture rather than any other career. For Sango, sculpture is not just what you do, it is what you think about, what you question and interrogate. Thinking about sculpture is a preoccupation with Edmore Sango. Sculpture is the easiest way to express oneself, it speaks louder than words; it reaches more people; it tells stories in a wonderful and almost magic way. It speaks about culture in the way the elders used to speak about culture, it digs into legend and folklore; it makes clear the mysteries of the past. For all these reasons, Edmore Sango became a sculptor. ?By making sculpture you become wise, less saddened by the sudden things which happen and make your life change for the worst, less surprised when things go wrong, less anxious less worried about life?.
Edmore Sango still has much to experience, much to learn and what he has learned he has explored through his sculpture and he is the wiser for making it.
